Welcome!

I am what they call a homesteader at heart. But what is a homesteader, anyway? I think it’s just another hot topic term for a small family farm. There are many different approaches to farming or homesteading, but what I truly consider myself is a caretaker. I take care of my family, my home, our animals of all shapes and sizes, and the garden. We do put up a lot of our food and raise almost 100% of our own meat. I also make nearly all of our own dairy products from the milk we get from our dairy cows.

Our garden gives us tomato products we use throughout the year, as well as herbs, squash, and a few other things. My real love is our dairy cows, and everything surrounding them. I love the partnership I have with them, milking time, and making cheese. Animals have always been my number one passion, so it is a privilege that I get to do this and provide healthy and nutritious food for our family.

As far as canning goes, the two things I seem to can the most are tomato sauce and broth. I prefer to keep things relatively simple when it comes to canning. Most of the time I have no idea what I will be making so I like to can ingredients that are healthy and nutritious for my family.
